چکیده
Background: Vulvovaginal candidiasis (VVC) is the most frequent fungal disorder in healthy and normal women. Objectives: The aim of this study was to evaluate vitro antifungal susceptibility clinical isolates Candida albicans glabrata, two common candida species Iranian patients with VVC. Methods: One hundred eight candida, including; C. (n = 77) glabrata: 31) were isolated from 108 activity caspofungin (CAS), amphotericin B (AMB), voriconazole (VRC), itraconazole (ITC), fluconazole (FLC), nystatin (NYS) determined according CLSI M27-A3 M27-S4. Results: Our results shown 8 (25.8 %) 6 (7.8 glabrata resistance FLU, respectively. Furthermore, VRC ITC observed 8.4%, 3.7% all isolates, six (5.6%) had intermediate MIC CAS. Conclusions: We reported 8.4%

Molecular Identification and Antifungal Susceptibility Pattern of Non-albicans Candida Species Isolated from Vulvovaginal Candidiasis
Background: Vulvovaginal candidiasis (VVC) is an important health problem caused by Candida spp. The aim of this study was molecular identification, phylogenetic analysis, and evaluation of antifungal susceptibility of non-albicans Candida isolates from VVC. Methods: Vaginal secretion samples were collected from 550 vaginitis patients at Sayyad Shirazi Medical and Educational Center of Gorgan (...
متن کاملOverexpression of MDR-1 and CDR-2 genes in fluconazole resistance of Candida albicans isolated from patients with vulvovaginal candidiasis
Background and Purpose: Candida albicans (C. albicans) is an opportunistic fungus that can colonize women’s mucosal epithelial cell surfaces, causing vulvovaginitis in specific circumstances. The major genes contributing to drug resistance in C. albicans are the candida drug resistance (CDR) and multi drug resistance (MDR) genes. The purpose of this study was to evaluate the CDR-2 and MDR...

متن کاملChronic vulvovaginal candidiasis: characteristics of women with Candida albicans, C glabrata and no candida.
INTRODUCTION Although as many as 5% of all women complain of chronic vulvovaginitis, little is known about these women. They may often be misdiagnosed and the role of vaginal yeast culture in diagnosing vulvovaginal candidiasis (VVC) among them has not been clearly defined. METHODS To address these deficiencies, we tabulated initial diagnoses among new patients and conducted a medical record-...
متن کاملAzole Antifungal Resistance in Candida albicans and Emerging Non-albicans Candida Species
Within the limited antifungal armamentarium, the azole antifungals are the most frequent class used to treat Candida infections. Azole antifungals such as fluconazole are often preferred treatment for many Candida infections as they are inexpensive, exhibit limited toxicity, and are available for oral administration. There is, however, extensive documentation of intrinsic and developed resistan...
